While I'm loving our 4-year nomad journey, my wife Rosie is completely burned out. We share how the same lifestyle affects us differently and what we're doing about it.
I loved reading this so, so much. I know you've said it before, and you are right! Rosie and I are so similar. I found myself nodding in agreement throughout. Although I haven't reached travel weary yet, I crave that sense of home. I love your plan to short term vacay once per month. Excited to follow along!
Ooof, so many things to relate to! I definitely felt like Rosie after our 2 years of almost non-stop traveling (and that was 2 years, not even 4!) Before then, I had lived in different countries for anywhere from 5 months to 3 years (which had also involved a totally different type of adjustment). Anyways, this was SO interesting! I loved reading how you guys experience this lifestyle and I'm so excited for your new life in Bangkok! Fingers crossed everything works out visa-wise!
You guys should get a sailboat! No packing/unpacking, you move slow, you always sleep in your own bed, you have your home with you but you’re still traveling and on the move.
I can relate to both of your experiences. This is a great post to show how differently people experience travel and movement. I can relate to Jeremie more, from the standpoint of packing and always wanting to "move". I can also see how this would affect people who relate to Rosie and how exhausting it could be. I'm fortunate in that I travel solo and get to decide how I travel completely on my own. I also see how challenging it would be for me to ever include anyone else in the journey. For now, I'm lucky to be able to visit great people along the way, while still maintaining my momentum on the road. GREAT post - thanks for sharing this!
Thank you Paul and reading and sharing your insights.
Yeah, different people, different preferences... I had it my way for a while, time to compromise now so Rosie can rest!
Solo traveling must be such a different experience than what we are experiencing, spending so much time with yourself but bring so much... great way to develop self-awareness I'm sure!

I hope this new lifestyle will work for the both of us 🙏 It will be an adjustment (like any changes are) and a different way to explore.

Thank you Caterina ❤️
Which part of traveling was the most tiring for you personally?
We’re excited for Bangkok as well, there will be a celebration if/when we get the visa approved for sure 🥳

I would love to explore that but I would need to test before committing… I’m not sure I’m a “I live on a boat” kind of guy 🤣
Rosie wants to do van life! But I’m on the fence about it, very very small space to share!
