One thing I've come to realize over the past few years is that - it's a bit of a cliché, but hey - you never know what's going to happen in the future. And this has taught me to keep my mind open to new opportunities.
You never know when a skill that you learn 'randomly' might come in handy.
In 2019, I got into drone videography, and as a result, I learned how to use Final Cut Pro to edit my videos for Instagram. A couple of years later, I launched the Just Interesting People podcast, a video on-demand platform focused on yoga, and now I'm running a yoga school where all our trainings are pre-recorded... and in all of these projects/businesses, I've had to edit hundreds of videos! Suddenly, Final Cut Pro became my best friend!
In 2020, my wife Rosie Andre hired a coach (Abraham Casallas) to launch an online course to help people become dog photographers (yep, that's a thing in Miami!). I followed along and learned how to set up an online course. While that business didn't make a ton of money, in 2022, this skill allowed me to easily launch the Warrior Flow School, where we now offer more than 10 online courses!
I also learned how to create simple websites using WordPress back in 2017... and since then, this has come in super handy, as I can now create websites by myself whenever I need them for all my projects.
Sometimes, we have to learn something that we don't really want to because we don't see the point. Learning is never a waste of time. You never know how life will unfold or what opportunities will knock at your door... and perhaps a skill you learned a few years ago will give you the option to say yes to a life-changing opportunity!
