Do you consider yourself creative 🧠?
For many years, I held the self-limiting belief that I wasn't a creative person. I leaned more towards the scientific side, approaching things rationally. I had never "created" anything that could be considered artistic. It wasn't something that ran in my family, so I was never encouraged to explore it.
On the flip side, my wife Rosie is incredibly creative, as is her family. It's been fascinating to witness her consistent creative output and observe how her mind perceives the world differently from mine.
I used to think of creativity as a binary trait—you're either wired for it or not. However, I now believe that's a misconception. I also think our conventional notion of creativity is too narrow. Creativity is often confined to art forms, but at its core, it's about creating—anything! Shifting my perspective, I've noticed more creativity both around me and within myself.
My father worked as a carpenter for years, crafting beautiful wooden furniture with his hands. That's creative. In my family, we love to cook. That's creative. Designing websites. That's creative.
In 2018, getting a drone allowed me to express my creativity more than ever before. I fell in love with this (expensive) toy. Witnessing the world from a different perspective is incredibly inspiring. Many times, Rosie and I were moved to tears by the beauty of our planet from above. Flying, capturing photographs and videos, and editing them—it was the first time I truly enjoyed creating something just for the sheer joy of it.
